LJP joins Institut de Biologie Paris Seine (IBPS) in the context of the next five-year contract

The LJP will soon join the IBPS, while remaining part of the Physics Department. This decision participates in the laboratory’s effort to strengthen direct interactions with biologists, and to eventually gather scientists with various backgrounds willing to develop inter-disciplinary projects. Being part of the Biology Department will ease the integration of biologists - permanent researchers as well as PhD students and postdoctoral fellows – who otherwise might be reluctant to join a physics-only laboratory. This association also aims at reinforcing existing interactions with the IBPS. We hope to see the emergence of joint projects, carried out by students and postdoctoral fellows with dual supervision, and involving the sharing of resources and space between the LJP and the IBPS. We wish to open the possibility for short-term informal “sabbatical stays” for scientists or support staff between our labs, to facilitate the acquisition of specific skills.
